You know what the problem is with standard measurements? Nothing is standard. The products in the shops or online might be made to standard measurements, but since when is a house or even a room built to standard measurements?
Sometimes it seems as though architects are trained to design rooms to measurements which prevent anything that comes in standard measurements from fitting neatly. Then there are the walls. They may look straight and smooth, at least from a distance, but then the sea looks smooth from space. Get up close and personal, or place a ruler against the wall and you find that it’s swaying gracefully, leaning crookedly or bulging in the middle. (Mind you, we’re all guilty of that after a while.)
But there is good news. Because whilst our uneven, crooked, non-standard measurement rooms look set to stop us from buying the exact combination of furniture or fittings we’d like, there is at least one company that can help in the kitchen. And we’re not talking simply about stopping your soufflés from sinking.
Custom Glass Worktops For Real Life Kitchens
Kitchen worktops are one of the most visible elements within a kitchen. They are both functional and decorative, and need to fulfil both requirements. No matter how beautiful the rest of your kitchen, if your worktops aren’t up to scratch then this can let everything down. The trouble is that, thanks to those standard measurements everyone uses, kitchen worktops almost never fit properly.
As a result you generally find that worktops come in sections, and are bonded together, creating seams. Quite apart from the way they look, these seams are often the first thing to go, and this provides a great opportunity for bacteria to thrive.
Then there is the shape. You may have a back wall that’s uneven, or curved. Perhaps it has an angled bend part way along. You may even feel that it would be nice if you could have a thinner worktop at one end, and a wider area that comes out much further into the room at the other end to provide greater versatility.
You may have a sink that’s a non standard size, or need a draining board that’s a little bigger than the standard size. Basically, you want a kitchen worktop that’s suitable for your kitchen, not for the showroom kitchen in the shop that’s specially designed to fit the worktop on sale.
Kitchen Worktops That Go Beyond Standard
Here at Bespoke Glass Design we don’t do standard. Unless you want it of course. What we do is to create the perfect glass worktop for you, for your kitchen, and for the way you use your kitchen.
To begin with, the size is entirely down to you and your kitchen space. Forget seams, we produce worktops in one single section. It looks better, lasts longer, and is much more hygienic.
Then there’s the shape. If you can draw it, we can make it. Heck, if you can imagine it and describe it to us so we can draw it, we’ll still make it.
If you want a wavy, contoured glass worktop that sweeps up at one end, has an integrated draining board, cooling rack and built in fruit bowl, you’ve got it.
Oh, and then there’s the colour. Pick a colour, any colour. If it exists, we can create a glass worktop to match. Want a worktop to match the exact shade of brown on your cat’s left ear? Sorted.
If you want a glass worktop for your kitchen which is suited to your life, home and family, rather than a shiny showroom that only does standard sizes, then talk to one of our friendly fitters who’ll be happy to help you.
